FROM "THINKING ABOUT IT" TO "READY"

Three steps
to PrEP.

  1. 1. Talk to the doctor

Book your first online consultation through the Apoteka.rs app. Discuss PrEP, your health and your needs with the doctor and receive instructions for laboratory tests.

  2. 2. Have the recommended tests

Have your tests done locally, following the doctor's instructions. Some tests are available at public health institutes or private laboratories. Submit your results through the Apoteka.rs app.

  3. 3. Review your results with the doctor

During your second online consultation, the doctor reviews your results and prescribes PrEP if it is suitable for you. You receive instructions for taking it and a plan for follow-up appointments.

You visit a laboratory for tests. Consultations and submission of results take place online, without travelling to Belgrade.

GET TO KNOW PrEP

Protection with professional support

  • An established approach to prevention

Before you start, the doctor assesses whether PrEP is suitable for you. Tests and regular follow-up appointments help check that you are using it safely.

  • Daily or on-demand

Together with the doctor, you choose a dosing regimen based on your needs and health. On-demand PrEP is not suitable for everyone.

  • Support while you take PrEP

Taking PrEP involves an HIV test and a medical review every three months. The doctor determines any other tests and further monitoring you need.

PrEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections. Condoms and regular testing remain important.

LET'S TALK ABOUT IT

What you need to know

There is no "silly question" when it comes to your health.

Is PrEP right for me?

PrEP is intended for HIV-negative people who do not use condoms every time they have sex or want additional protection against HIV. You do not need to decide whether to start before your consultation. It is an opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the doctor whether PrEP is suitable for you.

Is the service anonymous?

The service is confidential, but not anonymous. You register on the Apoteka.rs app using your real details, including your first and last name, because the service involves a medical assessment, a medical report and potentially a prescription.

Can my primary care doctor see this consultation?

Records of consultations and PrEP prescriptions at Potent Extra Care are not automatically transferred to your primary care medical record or to other healthcare institutions' information systems. The practice is not connected to those systems.

How is my data handled?

You do not submit medical records on the Play Safe website. Consultations and submission of results take place through Apoteka.rs, while Potent Extra Care keeps records of the healthcare it provides. More information about data processing on the platform is available in the Apoteka.rs privacy policy. Privacy on this website.

How much does starting PrEP cost?
  • First online consultation: RSD 2,000.
  • Second online consultation, including a review of your results and a PrEP prescription if it is suitable for you: RSD 2,000.

Total for two consultations: RSD 4,000. Tests and medication are not included in this price.

  • PrEP medication, a pack of 30 tablets: approximately RSD 4,600-4,900, depending on the pharmacy. How long a pack lasts depends on the dosing regimen you agree with the doctor.
  • Laboratory tests: the cost depends on the tests required and your chosen laboratory's prices. Some tests are available free of charge at public health institutes; not all required tests are free.

Prices are indicative. Before booking, check the current consultation fee in the Apoteka.rs app and the medication price at your chosen pharmacy.

Where do I have my tests and which results do I submit?

After your first consultation, you receive a specific list of tests and instructions for submitting the results. You can have your tests done locally. Some tests are available at public health institutes and private laboratories. Before you go, check availability, prices and how you will receive the results. If you already have results or are planning anonymous testing, ask the doctor whether those results can be used for this service.

How do I get the medication after my consultations?

If the doctor decides that PrEP is suitable for you after reviewing your results, she prescribes it and explains how to take it. You can collect the medication from a pharmacy that stocks it or can order it. Check reservation, collection and delivery options through Apoteka.rs.

How often do I need follow-up appointments?

An HIV test and medical review are required every three months. The doctor determines other tests based on your health and how you take PrEP. If you expect to miss a scheduled review or develop symptoms, contact the doctor to agree on the next steps.
